30 Years in Practice

Three Decades of Growth, Challenge and Change

Economic development isn’t about running a standard problem-solving script (which, by the way, doesn’t exist in the first place). It's about assembling an array of resources to create a constellation of support that guides each company on its unique journey.

"We've been with Reitnouer through so many different stages—from helping them find land to their biggest expansion yet. Seeing a company grow over 30 years in Berks County? That's what makes this work meaningful."

the next chapter

The facility opens in January 2026, officially launching the next chapter for Reitnouer.

2024 - 2025

The Next Chapter

Maturity Stage

A project of this scale requires more than one source of capital. GBDF and the Berks County Industrial Development Authority (BCIDA) each provide $1M short-term loans — $2M in gap financing that helps bring the full funding package together alongside Fulton Bank's primary financing.

2024 - 2025

Closing the Gap

maturity stage

The Unseen Work

Years of re-zoning, township coordination, community engagement to prepare the site for industrial use—long before construction would begin.

Better opportunity emerges: 65-acre, GBDF-owned parcel in Ontelaunee Township with superior highway access. Strategic land swap executed.

2010s

The Swap

expansion stage

GBDF helps Reitnouer secure 50 acres in Bern Township for future expansion—not immediate need, but planning ahead.

Mid 2000s

Strategic Vision

growth stage

Impact

Two hundred jobs saved. Reitnouer continues to grow.

Critical Intervention

GBDF provides $500,000 direct loan from its own funds, connects Reitnouer with new banking partner, facilitates move to Cumru Township.

Business evolution requires a move from the Muhlenberg facility. Two hundred jobs on the line. An existing building was needed and the 50-acre parcel would have taken too long to develop. Traditional PIDA loans process did not meet an urgent timeline.

Early 2000s

The Evolution

growth stage

GBDF facilitates a Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) loan for Dormae (Miles Reitnouer). Lower-interest state financing helps support manufacturing operations. A standard transaction, but the beginning of something bigger.
