What Makes Bronson Special

Bronson is an unusual dog in many ways. One of the first things we noticed was his sensitivity to his diet and food. On day number two, my wife Kyra found a recipe online that consisted of boiled meat and vegetables. Bronson didn't seem too interested in it, so she put it in the fridge until the next day.

The next day, however, when she pulled it back out and reheated it, Bronson was so offended that he nosed it into the corner of the room and pulled a towel over top of it! From that moment on, they knew that Bronson had an especially refined palate, so they feed him a fresh food diet of ground meat, vegetables, sweet potatoes, and hard-boiled eggs daily.

He also really likes to eat as a pack. Unlike most dogs who have to work hard to hold back their appetite during meal times, Bronson will often wait until everyone sits down to begin eating, and doesn't prefer to eat alone. It sometimes take quite a lot of cajoling to get him by himself to eat on quick and busy mornings!

Bronson is also incredibly intuitive. He senses emotions and pain in others and will make it a point to nestle up to them if they exhibit any signs of emotional of physical discomfort.

Although he is large is quite gentle with humans; he sometimes jumps up in excitement when new or friendly faces come over, but does so slowly and cautiously, without being frantic or scratching.

But perhaps one of the best things about Bronson is his expressiveness. He wears his emotions plainly, often smiling, lifting an ear and eyebrow, or questioning with his eyes. He nuzzles his head against his mom and dad whenever he can and often leaps for joy, with all four paws off the ground, before going for a run. He truly is a special boy and unlike any dog we've ever known!

How Bronson Changed My Life

Before Bronson came into our lives, we were stuck in a little bit of rut. My wife and I had been spending the last two to three years building our small marketing agency - something we initially did during nights and weekends while we worked our corporate jobs. We had freed ourselves from the grind of the 9-5 by opening our business, but had created a new, slightly less restrictive prison for ourselves. We were very regimented and didn't leave much room in our schedules for fun or frivolity.

When Bronson came into our lives, everything changed. He forced us to build new routines that included time for running, walking, and playing. When things got stressful, he was always there for pets and belly rubs.

Although the business took a slowdown while we adjusted to our new lives, it ultimately helped us refine, grow, and speed things up. We are now more in-tune with each day and with each other; we have a pack mentality that means we take care of each other no matter what. And, best of all, Bronson inspired Pet Stories!

The road wasn't without its twists and turns. Bronson had to get to know us, and we had to get to know him. He tested our patience on more than one occasion, and I'm sure we made some mistakes in our care for him, too.

Today, we can't imagine our lives without Bronson. He changed our life for the better in so many ways. He is now our running buddy, our couch companion, and the chief happiness officer at our business. He brings delight and smiles to everyone who meets him and reminds us to cherish the little things every day.

Although we rescued Bronson, he rescued us right back. He gives us hope, direction, and a reason to work hard and play hard - he is truly a blessing from above!

Minutes turned into hours, and still, no one contacted us. The dog was obviously still scared and nervous, but he began to allow us to comfort him and pet him. On the very first day he showed up at our home, he let me wrap my arms around him and hug him - a moment I will never forget.

The first few days we had Bronson at home were a whirlwind. We didn't have any doggie supplies, and we were hesitant that we were even going to be able to keep him. He didn't seem to be leash trained, so taking him on walks was a formidable feat. We experimented with homemade dog dinners and got him some cheap toys from the grocery store to tide him over until surely, surely someone would call.

But no one never did.

By the end of the first week, our hopeful anticipation that the phone would ring turned into just the opposite. We began praying that this sweet pup would be staying with us for good; and that's exactly what he did.

The Day Bronson

Came To US

On a cold Saturday morning in February, I was getting groceries out of the trunk of my car when I happened to look to the left. Right on the pavement, sitting next my white Acura, was a black dog, smiling at me.

I called to my wife, who was half way up the stone stairs of the path leading to our back door with her arms full of grocery bags. She saw the dog next to me and immediately dropped the bags and grabbed him by the collar, leading him towards the house.

We live in a dense neighborhood outside Reading, Pa., and lost dogs are a regular occurrence. We expected that shortly, someone would come running or driving down the road looking for this sweet boy.

After about 10 minutes of having Bronson in the house, we started posting on our local lost pet and neighborhood social media pages. After about 30 minutes, I drove to the grocery to get a cheap leash to walk him around the neighborhood.

And after 60 minutes, we put in calls to our local Animal Rescue League. We were just sure that someone would be calling or dropping by any minute.
