The Reading Royals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, announced that goaltender Keith Petruzzelli has been loaned to Reading by Lehigh Valley.

A third-round selection of the Detroit Red Wings in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Petruzzelli has played in 48 AHL career games with Toronto (47) and Reading (1) going 22-18-4, 3.16, .894 SV%. Prior to Reading, Petruzzelli played in 30 games with Newfoundland where he was 20-9-1, 2.40, .916. He was selected to the ECHL All-Rookie team and also ECHL Second All-Star Team in 2021-22 when he finished 16-6-1, 2.01, .927 in helping lead the Growlers to the Kelly Cup title.

Prior to beginning his professional career with Newfoundland in the 2021-22 season, Petruzzelli played in the NCAA at Quinnipiac University. Over his four seasons, Petruzzelli finished as ECAC Goaltender of the Year and was both a Hobey Baker Finalist and Mike Richter Award Finalist during his senior campaign in the 2020-21 season. In 94 career collegiate appearances with the Bobcats, Petruzzelli totaled a 49-27-8 record, 2.17 GAA, .915 SV%.

From Lehigh Valley

The Reading Royals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, acquired the playing rights of goaltender Vinnie Purpura from the Adirondack Thunder.

At 6'6", 194-pound, the right-catching netminder hoists a 17-4-4 record with a 2.87 goals-against average and .907 save percentage in 29 professional career appearances. Purpura signed a Standard Player Contract (SPC) to begin his professional career with Adirondack on March 13, 2023 out of Long Island University where he was teammates with current Royals' forward Nolan Welsh.

Purpura posted a 12-34-1 record, 3.38 goals-against-average and .894 save-percentage in 53 NCAA career game appearances between parts of two seasons at Boston University (2018-20) and three seasons at Long Island University (2020-23). Purpura earned LIU's hockey program's first-ever victory against ranked opponent, making 32 saves in 3-2 win vs. No. 12 Ohio State University on Nov. 25, 2022.

The Reading Royals' American Hockey League affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, announced that goaltender Parker Gahagen has re-signed with the club for the 2024-25 season.

Gahagen, 31, prepares for his second season under an AHL-contract with Lehigh Valley and his seventh professional season overall. The 6'2", 194-pound, left-catch netminder appeared in 14 games for the Royals during the 2023-24 season, in which he posted a 10-4-0 record, 2.28 goals-against average, .936 save-percentage and one shutout Gahagen was loaned to Reading by Lehigh Valley four times during the 2023-24 campaign.

Gahagen posts an 83-44-8 record, 2.60 GAA, .915 save-percentage and 12 shutouts across 150 games in his professional career. In the AHL, Gahagen has accumulated a 12-12-3 record, 2.87 GAA and .903 save percentage across stints in Lehigh Valley, Colorado, Milwaukee, Toronto and San Jose.
